TAILIGHTS - Need help

I am having a problem. I had my lights on one day and the third brake light would not go out while driving. I decided to just ignore it. A few days later the tailights stopped working but the brake lights still worked. I have checked the taillight bulbs and wires. I didn't notice anything wierd. I then checked the fuseable links, relays, and fuses. I called the dealership and was told to change the lighting switch ($102). I decided to get one off a car at a junkyard to save money ($35). It didn't help. If you have any ideas please let me know. Also cruise control and emergency lights work off and on (related?).

one of two things...
a) You replaced a bulb with the wrong bulb. There are two different dual filament bulbs that will totally interchange, but will not work correctly if you do. If you didn't change a tail light recently, don't worry about this.
b) Your tail light sensor took a dump on you. It is supposed to be attached to the passenger side tailight. Most people find theirs hanging upside down and generally filled with water.
