rust under rear seat in my 2+2
Hi,
I just installed an amp in the rear of my 86 300zx and pulled the rear seat cushion up to find rust back there. I know where the water was leaking into the rear under the tool tray, but where could it have come from to be rusting under the rear cushion? I have a hyper sensitive nose and didnt smell any mildew from the cushion or under neath, and the cushion isnt water stained which would indicate that the T tops might have been leaking there for years. It was also bone dry even after the last rain compared to the rear (prior to fixing it) would puddle up under the tool kit since I removed the tool kit to dry.
So..... Im at a loss as to what the possibilities are as to where this rust came from. It's not that important since it was dry after the last rain as I explained, but still would like to make sure it doesnt reoccur, especially since I can't stand the smell of mildew which gets activated everytime something is mildewed to begin with then gets wet again.
