Lights Turn on by themselves.

My 86 never did this b4 and all of a sudden the head lights started turning on by themselves. The only way i can turn them off is by unplugging the purple plug under the stearing colum. Ive tried spraying cleaner into the colum where the switching is, and it will work for a few days then the problem will reappear. This is very anoying..

replace the headlight column switch then.

I dont think anything physical is broken, there must be some kinda non conductive grease i can use to keep it from shorting with i tap the light switch, or it just turning on by itself.

I did clean it, told ya i sprayed some [censored] in it to clean it, my question was if theyre should be some kinda lubricant?

You don't necessarily need to lube anything, unless you feel the need to. There is some non conductive "grease" but you won't find it at an auto parts store. Go to an electrical supply shop and ask for some wire lube. They might call it something else, but explain what you need and they'll get it for you. It's not cheap, but it works.
