Re: tt engine
no such thing as an 86 TT engine. no z31 came with twin turbos in the US. I don't even think the Z31 came with twin turbos in Japan either. Maybe on the RB motor they did.

Re: tt engine
wouldn't matter what car you started with. the swap to the VG30DETT motor is going to be expensive and time consuming. So, you should start with the cheapest car you can get. Price of the engine, transmission, and ECU is going to eat a nice hole in your wallet. For the same money, you could easily upgrade a z31 turbo to get more power out of it.

Re: tt engine
it would be cheaper to sell your NA, buy a turbo, and modify the hell out of it so it stomps on stock TTs.
Now, if you still want to spend $3000 plus on putting a STOCK TT motor into a z31, it doesn't matter what year/model/engine/transmission Z31 you start with as you will have to put in a new engine, transmission, and ECU.

I think you may be thinking that 2 turbos are better than one. Look how many TT z32's are out there that have about $50k in them and they still aren't all that fast. It's because you have to buy 2 of everything.
There's actually some guys that will UPGRADE the tt's to a single turbo.
Stick with a single turbo..it's much easier to do, and can be build up to be just as fast.

Re: tt engine
Stay with a Z31 turbo. Mainly because they have nicer looking bodies in my opinion. The only problem I have is that there is not that many after market parts for Z31's as there are for Z32's. Motorsport Auto is probably the best I have seen, but very expensive. With a lot of investment in a Z31 turbo, you can turn it into an animal on the streets. I wouldn't mind owning a 95 300ZX SMZ, but they cost a lot more than what I have. Just keep your car maintained. I have seen very few well kept Z31's down here, almost everyone has messed up quarter panels, smashed up front/rear ends, and other problems.

Re: tt engine
i would like to keep my n/a and turbo it mainly because out of all of the z's ive seen for sale, none of the affordable ones are in as good of condition as mine. I also go to a high school where i have to do a project my senior year, and i would like my project to be a turbo conversion for my z. I would like to put a garrett to4b on it, would that be very hard to put onto a turbo engine?

Re: tt engine
I wish!!!!!
What I need to find out is what all it takes to put a tt in a z31, because I need to explain in words how difficult it would be to do to a guy so he'd stop buggin me about doing it. lol (it'd be nice, but I don't have the cash for it.)
