Do you know if Maroon has a factory clear coat?

 

Since the S130 was base/clear wouldn't the Z31 be as well? It seems odd that there were any single stage paints ....

The car’s factory exterior color code is printed on a metal plaque attached to the driver’s side front shock absorber tower. It doesn’t tell you if it has a clear coat though. I think most of the z31 colors have it but I won’t say all of them. Check the Nissan 198x Service Manual to see if paint info. is given. If not, there’s a method to test for a clear coat finish or ask a body shop.

 

That makes all the sense.

 

I think one of the reds and the black and the whites were all one stage paints. The metallics were always clear coated. I seem to remember the duplicolor books at Pep Boys stating whether the color had a clear coat or not.
