Having car problems, how can I test my fuel pump?
I'm getting a code 22 on my ecu which is a fuel circuit short or open problem. I really don't want to spend $300 on new fuel pump just to find out that it could have been something else. Here's my problem. The car is hard to start all of the sudden. When I turn the key on nothing happens sometimes as if the battery's dead. After trying to start it a couple of times the engine will then turn over and start. It idle sux, misfiring continually. I can rev the car all the way up 6k but if I try leave it at like 2k the car misfires and then drops in rpm to like 1500 needing me to give more gas to try and keep it at 2k. If I then try and leave it idle it sit @ 700rpm for about 20sec then it stumbles a few times and shuts off. During this stumble/misfire I can here the fuel pump relay clicking continually. That was yesterday. Today I actually got it start just fine and keep a solid 700rpm idle for up to 10min. I checked the timing and adjusted it to spec. I also checked the tvs and made sure that was correct. I also tried the unpluging the afm thing just to see if my afm was screwed up. It idled worse with it unplugged. Plugged it back in and idle went back to normal so I don't think it's the afm. Alas my good fortune didn't last long cause after checking these things the damn car started to act up again and then shut off. I've checked my plugs and it seems like I'm running very rich from all of the carbon on them. First time this has ever happened. The plugs have never looked like this any of the times I've changed them. They have always still looked nearly new when I've changed them, only slightly worn center electrodes. I'm running out of ideas here and I really don't want to have to take it to nissan to have them rape to fix it. Any ideas? anybody?

Try replacing the points in your distributor, they aren't nearly as expensive as a fuel pump, and they could be causing the problem. Even if it isn't the problem, you'd end up with new points in the end, which is always a plus..

Okay first off don't bother looking for your points because you don't have any. If you are running rich then I don't think you have a bad fuel pump. It sounds more like an air or spark problem.
