i asked my mechanic about installing a new, lightweight crank pulley on my Z...he said underdriving accessories (alternator, water pump, etc...) is a bad idea. anybody here have a UR or Auto Specialty pulley on their Z??? please let me know, if so, any probs???

 

I dont have one myself but have heard from others who do have them. Most say its the best mod an N/A can do. I have not heard anyone say that they have had problems and both of those companies CLAIM that they won't harm your engine. It does, however, seem that decreased power to the water pump and alternator would have some adverse effects. This is all sorta friend of a friend information but I hope it helps since no one else has reponded.

I have had one on my 91 TT for almost 2 years now, and no problems so far! I liken the modification to being similar to installing an aluminum clutch that I had on my previous Z (1990 n/a).

I have the UR one on my car and have had no problems with it in the last 6 months. If you check out my ride page you can see my car gets a little more then just street driven.
