Re: a question to pose

if this is a show car only, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD KEEP EVERYTHING ORIGINAL. the judges know more than you think. on the other hand, if its a weekend driver, a few mods wont hurt. just be sure not to do anything irreversable and keep all the original parts handy.(i.e. if you put a new stereo in it, use a kit and keep the original. dont cut anything) someday i will have an AE even if i buy it as a piece of junk. happy z-ing.

Amen to what Zcarninja says...

If you want a modified one, get another to "play with". They can be found pretty cheap these days.

I have my '86T which i show as a 100% stock car and others that I will modify. From what I've seen, judges lean a bit more toward the collectible status of the AE rather than other years. This is only my guess since 2 of the shows in which there was an AE, the AE took 1st and I took 2nd. The other show I was in, I was classed with Z32's and got 2nd to a 1995 TT. Very disappointing as parts for Z32's are still pretty readily accessible thru the dealer. I can't even buy a new set of the original model tires that came on mine, or a new coolant reservoir bottle like came in '86's. They have been replaced by the similar ones used in '87 and newer. Oh well....
Maybe I'll have a slim chance at the convention Wednesday since Z31's and Z32's will have their own classes. I will have that same AE to beat though.....

I still plan to keep mine as close to original as possible. I will modify the heck out of my other 2 "keepers" if I want.
