Flooded Engine

Down here, we're getting swamped- the city won't repair the roads, so we have several streets turned lakes to drive through. Today, I had no choice but to drive through one of them and guess what? I flooded the engine and it was made easier because my K&N sits so low, just collecting all the water. Anyway we fired the water out of the block after pulling the plugs and everything runs great but my fuel gauge now reads "empty." Do y'all think there's a chance I fried the fuel sensor? Any ideas / similar experiences?

The sensor is in the tank so unless a wire was exposed and got grounded I doubt it. Might just be a bad fuse or something got crossed in the water, so check your fuse links too.

Or maybe you're just outta gas

previous owner said he had the same problem with the '79 i bought from him, after he had driven it through a rather deep puddle.
