Auto Temp A/C

I'm replacing my automatic temperature a/c and heater control unit (was only gettin cold air blowing on my feet). Anyway I have the old one out, but can't get the replacement in. Most of the vaccuum tubes are so short, there is no way I can see where they go and rehook them. I'm thinking of getting some couplers and extending the tubes so I can reconnect them more easily. Has anyone had this wonderful experience? Any suggestions? Thanks

I haven't done it yet, but will soon.
Did you replace the entire heater core housing and fan motor with one from a manually adjusted system instead of the auto temp?
I would just buy new hose and run each line from one point to the next and cut it to length as you go. The new hose will hold better on each end and give you a good seal for years to come. The hose is called vaccume or winshield washer hose.

Thanks for the tip bleach. No, I'm not replacing it with a Manual, but the same, only working (hopefully) version. I found a good article on-line for replacing an auto with manual. I could dig it up maybe if you need it.

Your problem might have been just bad hoses the whole time. Replace those first. I've got a complete Auto Temp system (untested) in a car I'm going to junk soon. The dash is already pulled so let me know if you want a few spare parts. I'll sell them really cheap.

If you have an article or link to a page, let me know. I'm thinking it'll be pretty straight forward. It looks like only 2 or 3 vaccume connections are used and as far as I could tell they all T onto one vaccume line that goes to the engine compartment. A couple parts of the system were already unhooked when I got in there because this was a junkyard system I pulled.

Nice article! I didn't read it all but it looks to have some good info. I got the entire system out of the parts car without removing that large front bar but it was pretty tight.
