I too have been interested in an LS1 swap, but I heard it's more difficult in the 280ZX chasses due to slightly different clearance issues with the bay and steering, compared to the 1st gens. I don't know about the details though. I did read about a company on hybridz.org that was considering making mounts for an LS1 into a 280ZX swap, but they don't have em just yet. But I think if we show enough interest, they'll get on it. Here's the email address of that place: zcar@johnscars.com Send em an email saying you'd be interested in a 280ZX LS1 swap if they make it. I've already sent them an email expressing my interest.

Check out www.hybridz.org for sure! I am currently finishing up a LT1 4L60E conversion on my 1983 280zxt. I used mounts from MSA. www.stealthconversions.com - is now selling a kit for the zx and is by far the best z car kit seller out there. This kit allows more movement for engine placement than that of any other z car kits. It is made this way depending on how much you want to modify the tranny tunnel and for power rack clearance. It should work for the LS1 because of the free range of engine placement the kit allows. They also sell headers for the zx and a very reasonable price.
