This car is in excellent condition and is ready to be driven or displayed. This car has spent its entire life in Illinois but does not have the problems you might typically associate with the Midwest (i.e. RUST). The car is virtually rust free. It does not see rain, much less salt! The frame rails are in awesome condition. Upon installing the aero kit (discussed below), I did have two small rust sections cut out and replaced immediately in front of the rear wheel wells prior to installing the side skirts. There are a couple of very small rust spots on the underside of the deck lid that I have not addressed yet. In addition, I have not yet addressed the minor rust around the battery tray area. This car has been garaged throughout most of its life as its condition and mileage attest. I bought this car in May 2001 and have completed all the things I wanted to with this car. Please note that the car did not NEED anything, I just wanted to make it more appealing. I am selling the car because I can no longer justify keeping it since I have two out-of-state college tuitions and one in-state graduate school tuition to pay for. If you are interested in a Z that is ready to be driven anywhere and requires no additional work, this is the car for you. The car is all original except for typical maintenance items and the following changes that I have made:
* Complete Motorsport Aero Kit II with air dam, side skirts, rear skirt, and F40 wing professionally installed and car repainted (car includes original bumper covers in good shape)
* Motorsport Cold Air Intake with K&N filter (car includes original air box)
* K&N billet fuel filter
* Brand new drilled rotors, calipers, kevlar pads, and braided brake lines installed by Chicagoland Z Cars
* Original schwastika wheels reconditioned and guaranteed for life performed by Chicagoland Z Cars. These wheels look better than new and will not suffer the same fate as the originals (oxidation)!
* High-flow Flowmaster exhaust (not loud but with a nice growl tone)
Other repair/replacement items include the following:
* Aspirator blower motor in center of dash (this motor is under continuous operation)
* Emergency brake cable
* Tinted windows (car includes a Motorsport louver for rear window)
* Deck lid gas struts
* Rear strut caps
* Performance plugs and wires
* Motorsport 280ZX deluxe floor mats
* Alternator
Other items included with car:
* Hard copy and CD of Datsun original service manual
* Haynes manual
* Carfax report I obtained prior to purchase in May 2001
* Maintenance records from original owner (not complete but does represent proof of mileage)
* Any other Z items I have that you want
The only faults with this car that I am aware of (and I am very familiar with this car) include the following:
* The minor rust as discussed above
* One dash crack just to the right of the gauge console
* One of the leather straps on the driver’s seat just pulled loose about 2 inches from my wallet full of tuition bills catching on it
* The cruise control does not work. The cruise kept blowing fuses and I spent many hours trying to track down the problem to no avail. I then spent many dollars at the local Nissan dealer (we have a guy that is still a Z man here) and at Chicagoland Z Cars who also could not find the problem. But hey, who needs a cruise control for a Z anyway? All other gauges, clock, A/C, and the sweet computer girl voice work fine.
* If you plan to really put this car to the test, you will probably need to replace the tires soon. They have plenty of tread but have started to show some cracking. So just to be safe, if you plan on opening it up, I would suggest replacement.
