The car is grounded for the moment. Turns out the rear left control arm is bent slightly making the tire "toe'd out." In 600 miles it's eaten the inside edge of the tire. I bought a control arm from a wrecking yard in VA & it should be here by the weekend. Then I'll finish the car. Mean time I've been priming / painting my white BMW.

Just a few from my parking spot... I'll take some better ones when I wet sand. I'm only going to paint the bumpers, rockers, and front grill panel for now. This fall I'll fix some dents & paint the rest.

Replaced the left rear control arm today... drives great now. Only setback today was my original bearing fell apart upon removal of the hub. I had to slice it open w/ my grinder to get it off. I guess it's a good thing I'm doing this.

Damaged arm:

New arm:

Sweet gaping hole...

Welcome to ZDriver! What a coincidence that you revived this thread. I just about bought a 96 318ti this last weekend, but it needed too much work for the price, and the seller wouldn't negotiate.

Need more info...

Where is the point of impact?
How fast were you going?
What did you hit?
Pics?
Have you done auto collision repair work before? (this isn't something you just "do" without prior training).

EDIT... oh, and I sold this black 318ti about a year later (in 2008).
