NHRA Datsun Funny Car?
Just watched the NHRA finals at Pomona and the announcers were talking about the Toyota Funny Car of Jerry Toliver. One of the announcers mentioned that back in 1982 a Datsun ran in the Funny Car ranks. It least I think he said Funny Car - maybe Pro Stock?
Anyone know anything about the Datsun that ran in 1982?

Cool, Mike. I wonder where these cars are today? Hmmm, find one and start running the Nostalgia Funny Car circuit.
Here is another pic of a serious Z drag car - possibly Pro Stock? The only info I have is that it is a 260Z driven by Jeff Sutherland with Muscle Motors sponsorship. If the car's sponsor is the same Muscle Motors that I know of, you can bet the Z is running a Mopar V8.

The car could possibly have been a Competition Eliminator car. If the Z wasn't such an aerodynamic slug it would be kind of fun to build up a Comp car around the body .
Back in the late 70's we campiagned the ex American Bandstand top fuel car.
We ran it in B Econo Dragster in the Competition Eliminator catagory. Funny thing was we were one of the last guys to run a front motor car in that class.
Who would have ever known they would have brought back Nostalgic Dragsters
At the time we were running someone was running a rear motored dragster in
Comp Eliminator using an L6 engines .
The Z32 body would make a neat Comp Eliminator car.
