Timing gun

I bought a timing gun to set the timing on my Z, and I have no idea on how to use it correctly...can someone tell me how to use it?

are you talking about using it on your z32 or 240? On the z32 you have to make a jumper plug wire so that you can hook the timing gun pickup over it. The jumper wire goes from the #1 sparkplug to the coil pack.

Do you need to know how to use the timing light too. try it on the 240 first....

lol, I don't have a z32, I wish I did though. I tried to use it on the 240Z, but I'm not sure if I'm using it right or not.

run the red wire to the pos lead on the battery, the black to neg and the 3rd wire to the #1 spark plug wire and point the flash at the crank shaft wheel in the front of the engine to read the timing, while the engine is running of course. that should do it
