JDM Parts

My brother is moving to china for work and will be traveling to japan a lot as well. So we have worked out a plan to get JDM parts with one exception. . .where to get them once hes there. Anyone ever been there and done a little automotive shopping? Places to check out, places to avoid?

There are atleast 2-3 people over in the Z32 forum that are over there as we speak. Might want to post this up over there. One is Japanz. The other I know of I can't remember his screen name. I think it's 92fairladyz or something like that.

Sure, but it is usually "cheap, Japan, and wait 5-10 weeks".

its not worth shipping unless you can get a container full, its about 5000 bucks then, no matter whats in the can. my friend ships over skylines from japan, he just goes to local car clubs in the areas, and shops that specialize in the car your looking for. its amazing the really cool stuff they got that we dont.

The crate he'll be shipping over is mainly for the items he and his buisness partner want to sell and keep for themselves but its going to be an on going thing. so he offered to get me JDM car stuff once in a while. so OF COURSE i took him up on the offer. Maybe even a right hand drive Z one day? haha, thats a ways away. As of now i would be happy with some JDM badging and some body styling/aero stuff. Just gotta find out for him as to where a good place to look would be. . .

What part of Japan will he be visiting? Either way tell him to look for Up Garage (chain of stores around Japan) and the second hand Autobacs. Lots of parts that are in great condition for dirt cheap. My bro got coilovers for his Silvia for less than 200 bucks. They were practically brand new! Farina Racers is out in Osaka and they sell some S130 stuff, along with Arita Speed, West Yokohama (don't know if they still exist or not), CAS, and a few others. Grab a Carboy magazine as they have a lot of shops listed in there that cater to the older cars in Japan. (I like it better than Option magazine)

UpGarage is where I got my hood and my rims. I got my 18" rims with brand new tires for $650. My hood was about $370.

Hes going to be in tokyo and a few other major metropolitin areas in japan but im not sure where. He'll also be in hong kong, bejing and jongwei or something in china. He is basically going to be all over asia and japan and occasionaly back to newyork.

Hey if either of you guys finds any cheap Jspec parts over in Japan (JDM tails, Front Jspec bumped, ect) let me know because id be willing to pay shipping and parts cost if its cheaper to buy straight from japan which is the impression that i get.
