Guess I should get married....

Well, I just did my taxes, and I get back the whopping refund of $439. My brother, who is married and has 3 kids is getting back $8,000!!

So I guess I'm being penalized by showing sound judgement and not getting stuck in a loveless, life-sucking marriage with a bunch of annoying rugrats.

On the bright side....I have 2 Zs and a sportbike. He has a minivan and a SUV

Still, this is annoying...anyone alse griped by this?

Sometimes it seems like single people get the short end of things.

OK, I'm done bitching now.....

yeah, us single people get screwed in the tax department. BUT we dont have to put up with all the married with kids BS. i feel sorry for those people, and gladly get raped on taxes. i bet your brother shelled out a lot more than $8000 on the wife and kids this year, so who really came out ahead?

Huh...

I'm married (Happily), have 3 kids (That are awesome) and I still have toys. The problem isn't married w/kids VS. unmarried W/ no kids, Its about picking...

The right Wife.

The right career choice.

And that's about it.

and making the right kids... could turn out to be brats... gotta have a reliable discipline system that isnt gonna turn them on you nor leave them ignorant to you.. its about bonding and acceptance with the knowledge of letting them know whats wrong...

Yeah Snow, I have a g/f, but nothing serious.

Rod is right, its about finding the right one...hopefully a girl who is also a car/bike enthusiast, that would be ideal...

I'm just a lil down on marriage...there have been some rotten marriages in my family...

I just felt like venting a little bit about the tax situation, but Entropy is right, overall, financially, I'm much better off. I do also feel sorry for guys who are married w/ kids sometimes...seems like they're "trapped" and have no freedom. But I know there are some good marriages out there also.

people that get that much money back just don't claim anything and get taxed a lot on every paycheck. Then they get big returns for the kids. But yes, kids cost a lot!
I never got back that much when I was married. Maybe around a grand for the both of us. I adjusted my taxes so I had a little more money in each paycheck so my returns were smaller. oh, and I was the only one working... I guess that makes a difference too

Yeah I guess he has the absolute maximum taken out of his paycheck which leads to a bigger refund. I'm not sure about the wisdom in this....you're basically letting the gov't use and invest your money, just so you get a bigger refund....

I know the feeling on single tax returns. Even married with no dependents sucks. The Gov. took over $8k from me this year and I get $2700 back. I don't see how they can justify the amount of money they take from us. I don't mind giving Uncle Sam an interest free loan until the end of the year, but I'd like the money back, if not in full at least half. Our Government has to have money to run the many many programs it has going on to make our lives easier and maintain our security and freedom. I completely understand that which is why I don't claim anything until tax time. They need money to make this world go 'round and I'll give what I can to help. I gave over 4 years to our miltary and since then I've been working with the Marine Corps at home and in Iraq maintaining their equipment. Taxes are a bit high in my oppinion though and I'm not paying for Pablo and his family to jump the border and live on welfare fat and happy because it's more than they're use to getting in Mexico. Enter the country properly, get a job and make money the way real americans do. Pay into the programs you'll eventually or currently use.

Serioiusly... I am so Fu&*ing sick and tired of hearing that bullsh*& from people. Just because something doesn't, or didn't work for you doesn't mean anything. It's rude, stupid and offensive to keep pushing that crap on people who don't have the same problem KEEPING a GOOD RELATIONSHIP or aren't "Plagued" by bad relationships. This crap is almost always spewed by someone who has FAILED. It ain't easy, it takes work... so what? I seem to be doing just fine with it and so are many other people. maybe the problem lies WITHIN THOSE WHO FAIL and NOT THE IDEAL ITSELF.

hay--i do not knock the institutin for others--there are many who have found eternal bliss with their soulmate---i yam not one of them. i yam one of the ones who barely got out alive--literally--thwere is no excuse for the kind of behavior that was imposed upon me--
my parents are still married--will be 60 years this year------but there is no good in the word for me. i did not say the saME FOR EVERYONE--IU JUST SPEAK FOR MYSELF, NO ONE oops should presume i include them in my speaking.
i have not been so lucky as to have met aND MARRIED MY SOULMAte or whatevber--i got to find latent psychopaths and sociopaths-----latent----no one knew until too late. fun....
so--do not pan the panners--SOME of them have legit reasons for dislike of certain words for themselves--
i yam glad you and others have found happiness and all trhe trimmings--my 30 years of work would have been a lot more enjoyable if there had been a caring husband to help raise the son i raised alone. life is always better when shared with a paRTNER. OOPS
there are many different reasons for folks to be allergic to marriage.
there are many reasons for folks to enjoy marriage.
cool/.
