Carbon fiber question?
Weight reduction... Also where can i go for them to make a custom body for it? And whats the price for one? I'm willing to pay around the price of $6000-$8000 for the entire body but in parts.

Well Do You Plan On Driving It On The Street??? If So Then Don't Go With A Full Body. Unless You Just Mean Body Kit Like Cf Hood And Fenders. The Stock Fenders Are Not Heave At All So Not Much Gain There At All. If You Want The Most Weight Reduction Then Get Rid Of A/c Power Steering, Interior, Stereo.. Ect...

if you want that type of thing done, your really gonna have to pay, hood molds can cost up to 600 bucks for a new plug, and same for fenders, a full body would have to be engineered and be very ridgid and strong, not to mention costly, to do the best light weight racer, to a full tube with carbon panels, then a laminate carbon floor. i estimate the price to be aboot 100,000. due to time and labour of such a extravagant job, would be super cool, no rust, but maybe not worth it, unless you can do it yourself.
**** $100,000 ? And if i can do it myself how will i do it since i dont have the resources. Unless i can lab a place that mold CF. I designed my own body and everything all i need is lab to make it like what they do with super cars.
man, doing custom like that is EXTREMELY exotic and is not very common, hence the price, i priced out getting all the bolt on body panels for my car done and its like 3000 for A door, and 650 for one fender or hood, and bout 1000 for the hatch, its mostly the moulds that cost, then the labour to do everything, then last the cost of materials. that being said, carbon fiber is getting hard to find in big pieces due to the fact that the aerospace industry is buying it all up as soon as its made. i was part of that composite industry, its huge, so they get first dibs on the goods. sorry to burst your bubble dude. i think it would be right awesome to have a cf z, cause its light, and wont rust!! great for here in canada

Seriously, are you for real? Like snwbrderphat540 SO many expensive things in such a short time? I'm practically 100% sure I could call your bluff...

its possible to learn but for it to be done right you'd have to have practice making things which could take years. You don't want to make a body or anything and mess it up in the process. That will cost you tons of money just to mess it up. If you really wanted to make a CF body it would be best just to dump your Z. You would have to fab up a whole new tubular frame with a roll cage for weight and strength issues. There is a reason those "supercars" that have full carbon bodys cost almost 1mil. And thats not including the cost of
the research and design aspects. Realistically unless you win the muti million lotto its just not possible.

Kinda like this NSX http://www.303lab.com/2004/05/i-cant...oney-that.html .
hate to tell you dude, he just overlayed alot of that over the stock body panels, some panels are actually cf, but not the whole thing. ive seen that done in a tuner mag. before. like i said up there, post #10, its alot of cash for the removeable panels to be done, i have the schooling for the composites, but not all the tools, those are cheap, 500 bucks gets you all the tools. you can get the training for mould making at an aircraft training facility, or at you local university.
Oh well guess its back to school for me. How long is a average CF moulding course? Hey thats gives me an idea if i learn to make custom CF bodies i can make alot of money out if it
. I'm going to check my local college's.

it takes a coupla months in school to learn the basics, then months more to learn the complex stuff, and all the literature, and calculations. and then years of practice to become a master, im still getting better, but im not great.
ive seen full carbon fiber body NSX in person here at battle of the imports last year at route 66 raceway. i shoulda asked him where he got it made, there was also a full CF supra on ebay or some crap a few months ago put up on a post hear. you should just search "full carbon fiber body" whatever on google and find a place that makes it or someone who owns one and e-mail them to find out where it was done and how much it cost. and for STARTING COLLEGE like me how do you have money for anything but a decent car. i only have about 5500 to play with. and i dont thik CF molding is a major lol. but yeah, we all still await picks of your Z your the one whith the RB26 right?
I searched but they arnt the type of bodies i want they are like drag racing bodies and stuff that come all together. What i want is for my car to be super car like where all the bumpers fenders and stuff are made out of CF. I am dedicated to car tuning and stuff but not dedicated enough to spend $100,000 on a body (even if i cant afford it
). Also did the CF supra and nsx have a paint job?

You need to contact Seibon. I assume this if for a 350Z (remembering your brake post). Seibon already makes several hoods, a full lip kit, rear hatch, fenders, and door skins for the 350Z. The rear fenders and roof are all one piece and are structural. Making them out of CF would be very expensive.

They have some very good products i like their seats alot. But they dont have front or rear bumpers and they dont have wider fenders. My car has wide racing wheels and i cant find fenders that can cover them properly. So i guess i'll need customs.
