Thats the transmission, I put it in first. Hence the caption... http://photos-h.ak.facebook.com/phot...26735_6870.jpg Mating it was suuuper easy, and I"m sooo glad i went tranny first! Just a quick question. http://photos-e.ak.facebook.com/phot...26756_7251.jpg what is this hose supposed to be attached to? Hahaha |
looks possibly like PCV but cant tell for sure got a better pic?
Indeed.... PCV valve. It's almost touching it! :D
damn n00bs i dont even own a Z and i knew that :D ROFL
i added you to my facebook too, hey nismopick, whats yours?
well @(*#(@ now i have a ton of time. I jsut got a call and I can't afford to go to college in Illinois now...IT's a real big bummer but that means I have more time to work on it, but now i'm on a roll. Yeah I just read all about the Positive Crankcase Ventilation system but on the N42 I don't believe there is a PCV valve on the manifold, so can I just cap off the vaccum?
The open end of the hose you were asking about should almost be touching the PCV. I'm pretty sure the N42 has one... this one does:

I've pointed it out for you in the attached pic.
ZStreet, here's my facemagazine: http://www.facebook.com/people/Marc_...ing/1282269282 |
N42 has one but since it was for an NA motor its RIGHT over the turbo you will have to relocate it or plug it in the manifold and just run a filter off the block. also cant afford college in IL? come on.... loans beotch loans! or beg the p-units haha.
Turbo! :smirk:
i'm mr. facebook noob. i added you too nismo.
this project looks fun. i wish i was doing it! try to get a video after it's done. i want to see how fast it is! |
I know i'm realy excited i've been reading my haynes on what i need emissions wise and It looks like I need the PCV system...I am running into this problem of where to plug the crankcase tubing into because the PCV valve on the manifold is a plugged by my turbo
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...Photo-0633.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...Photo-0632.jpg Would it be catastrophic if i just plugged off the crankcase ventilation and just had it recirculate through the rocker cover? This emissions is so confusing i don't know what i need for the turbo system but I'm still reading so..:icon_super: |
I believe that someone on hybridz mentioned going to home depot and getting like a bent fitting so you could keep the PCV. Otherwise you'd just plug off where it's at and drill and tap a new hole over a bit.
will it run with out it?
sammich was reallly reallly gooood.........miaourw
i already said what you had to do! plug it and re-tap so it reaches or just plug it and then just vent the PCV hole in the block to the atmosphere. idk how i keep getting ignored when im right....
huh? whad you say? I wasn't paying attention. :58:
i think its cause i have a kawi instead of a datsun/nissan. lol. well at least i got you pick and thxone for kawi bros.... though mine is way more BA lol ;)

"Notice the tube from under the intake manifold to the crankcase hole, and the shiney silver filter?? well that didnt work" |
how about running both the block and valve cover vents into one oil catch can. Then output from that can to the intake in front of the AFM. It will always have slight vacuum there. :D
that's not too bad an idea bleach
I've also read someone saying their idea for removing the carbon canister, was just running the vent line right to the intake manifold. Person said they had been running it for a while like that with no problems. |
