entropy31 10-26-2005 04:53 AM

you guys just havent had good beer. and it's not all i drink. i'm also a big fan of gin.

pete8717 10-26-2005 06:12 AM

Brandy and Vodka

Fast240Z 10-26-2005 06:16 AM

I haven't drank since I finished 3/4 of a bottle of Smirnoff Vodka by myself...that was a crazy night. I'm a little guy, so you know I was drunk after that. When I would drink though, I'd drink like Smirnoff Ice Triple Black. I've tried Coors and Bud and that of the like, and I really didn't care for the bitter taste. I also had a case of Newcastle Brown Ale, and that wasn't bad, the taste was strange, but after your 2nd beer, you tend not to notice.

Don't forget kids, don't drink and drive!!!

entropy31 10-26-2005 06:23 AM

coors and bud are crap. smirnof ice is for girls (really, thats the target market). newcastle is'nt bad.

Double Bastard is a truly hardcore assault on your tastebuds, and it comes in a 3 liter glass bottle, with a padlock keeping the gasket top on. i would not reccomend it for people unfamiliar with HUGE charactered beers.

emo236 10-26-2005 08:24 AM

where can you get this stuff, I love myself a good beer.

entropy31 10-26-2005 08:34 AM

its brewed in San Marcos CA, and their website shows were to get it. if you dont get it in the first week or so, you may be SOL.

emo236 10-26-2005 11:03 PM

sweet, I'm gonna have to go get me some!

Riz Z Speed 10-27-2005 12:04 AM

Have you ever had good beer. I used to think the same thing. All beer looked like piss and tasted like piss. Taht's because I had only had bud, mgd, that kind of crap....whcih is crap. Go to BJs if you have one near you and try their beer. Beer is a man's drink, if you don't drink beer and you drink, you might actually be a woman. ;)

tnkrstoyco 10-27-2005 10:14 AM

I love good Mexican Tequila. In beer I always drink coors lite. We tried some beer at Firestones Grill I think it was that I swear I can still taste and it's been almost 2 years ago. Emo you should know where that is, just south of Hearsts Castle.

Actually, it's only going to be brewed in San Marcos for a few more weeks. I went to the open house at the brand new facility here in Escondido a few weeks ago. All I can say is "DAMN, do those guys know how to throw a party". I can see the new place from my backyard... pretty soon, I'll be able to smell the yummy beer goodness wafting from it:).

Rod.

lucky bastard :D . i think you beer haters have only had fizzy yellow crap beer. i used to hate beer, wouldnt touch the stuff, but all that i'd had was mass produced pisswater like bud or mgd or coors. i think the one that got me started was widmer hefeweizen. now i am a true beer lover, and always trying new beers. i'm going to start brewing my own once i can get all the equipment. there are microbrewerys all over the place up here, and i'm trying to sample every one. :D

CanyonCarver 10-27-2005 12:23 PM

I've had the imports, domestics and home brews. I've had enough of the shit dos xx, pacifico and tecate to last a lifetime. My friend bought a complete micro-brewery and set it up in his shop for a few years. A race car owner that I worked for was retired from budweiser, can you say 6 free cases of beer for four guys every weekend for 4 or so years. That was all after a 12-pack a day habit for a number of years. I'm retired from beer. "More filling, Less taste". :D

bardabe 10-27-2005 06:39 PM

pete8717 10-27-2005 10:07 PM

Man I'm only 17 and I got so hammered one time I tried to run out the door to go streaking. My cousin convinced me my clothes were on fire. lol. I got 5 feet away from the door stumbled to my left, and left a big dent in the bed of my stepdads ford pickup with my head. He couldn't quit laughing.

And you're proud?

emo236 10-28-2005 11:07 AM

BTW, I got a arrogant bastard ale last night.....amazing! I love dark beers... I love the bottle too. My g/f did'nt like it, so I knew it was a man's drink! haha, jk.

91zxtt 10-28-2005 07:56 PM

It should be no surprise to anyone here that I like beer. Nothin' goes better with workin' on cars.

tnkrstoyco....Firestones Bar & Grill is the best. That's one of things I miss most from going to school @ Cal Poly SLO. Awesome burgers, beer and tri-tip sandwiches.

tnkrstoyco 10-29-2005 05:38 AM

That's the one 91zxTT, Yeah they had great food. We drank several beers, most were really good, but there was this one that I swear I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth. Kind of like bad persimmons. Don't want to stay there too long and have to ride a bike back to LosOsos.
I get to missin being out there too. Hope maybe this summer to get back out to the coast and will have to visit my brother in Clovis. We're not sure yet, but it'll be our 35th HS reunion(at CL McLane in Fresno) coming up. Not sure if they'll do anything or wait till the 40th. Either way I want to make the trip back out.

KENZ 10-29-2005 12:56 PM

someone send me a bottle of Double Bastard. ;) :D

emo236 10-29-2005 04:10 PM

I've never been to firestones, I'll have to check that place out if I ever get a chance. I was just in SLO for a football tourney with the fraternity, should've gone! On another note, has oneyone ever had BJ's beer?

frankmusic 10-29-2005 05:41 PM

Sure.

I used to drink a lot of the crappy beer. But then a started going to the local breweries and tasting the quality lagers and such and lemme tell ya . . .

I really dont mind a crappy beer:D. But when I have a good one, a really good one, it makes my night. Gordon Beirsch makes an awsome hef and the only on near me is about 45 minutes to an hour from me. Sucks, but when I'm in the area I try and stop in for a kick ass steak and some tasty beer.

yeah, good stuff. when i was in the navy we would take the ship up to Seal Beach CA for weapons off/onload, and there was a BJs there. thats where we would always start the night off. we would stop at every convenience store for the 9 or so blocks to BJs and buy a red bull and a shot bottle of absolute citron :D . then when we got to BJs i would always order the sampler, and they give pretty good sized samples. the waitress would always look at me funny and ask if i thought i could finish them all, i would just laugh and say thats how i was going to decide what i would drink more of  . good pizza there too. then, after being properly primed at BJs, we would go and hit the Irish pubs on that same street, with breaks to walk down the pier and drink a few more red bull & absoluts. that was always a lot of fun.

I've been to bj's numerous times. The wifey and I will do dinner at bj's and then a movie. I've tried a coupla beers...... not too bad. Now junior #1 likes the place enough that they'll go there and close the place. He likes the bj's beer. But then he likes that newcastle crap too. :)

emo236 10-30-2005 12:35 PM

I usually get teh 7 samlpler (their larger sampler). It's not all that much beer. I definitely don't get drunk off of it (which I don't do anyway). I maybe barely get buzzed, but not even that usually. To compare it, it usually takes me about 5 beers within a half hour or less to just get buzzed.

tnkrstoyco 10-31-2005 06:03 AM

Emo, 91zxtt can tell you exactly where the Firestones is we're talking about. I just remember it's north of SLO and south of the Castle.

yeah, the sampler definately wasnt enough to get drunk on. i just used it to decide which brew i wanted to drink more of. i've backed off quite a bit since i got out, but i can still hold my own. i used to be, and usually still am, the last man standing, which sucks for everyone else if i find a magic marker :D .

emo236 10-31-2005 11:00 AM

IMO, drinking to get drunk is kinda childish. I mean what's the point of not remembering anything and then being sick. So maybe you had fun, maybe you didn't, but you don't remember if you did or not so it doesn't make a difference. Also, you're more susceptible (sp?) to do stupid stuff that will have long term consequences. I like good beer b/c it tastes good. I also like the social aspect of alcohol, so I'll socially drink or drink beers when working on cars (makes things so much easier....I find myself getting mad at my car a lot less when I've had a few beers) and it's just appropriate.

yeah, i was young and in the navy. i have cut way back since then, and i now drink well brewed beer mainly to enjoy the flavor. i dont drink to get drunk. of course when your drinking 8%+ beers it kinda happens on its own.

oh yeah, and the store near me that is supposed to have the double bastard didnt have it  . their beer delivery isnt till tomorrow. oh well, i picked up a delerium tremens and a 6 of LaConner ESB. i like to have a good variety in my fridge so i have the perfect beer for whatever i'm eating :D .

emo236 10-31-2005 03:07 PM

also, has anyone tried labatt's (sp?), it's canadian and I had it along time ago.....I remember liking it, but my tastes have changed...I want to try it again, but I have a hard time finding it.

It's on Marsh Street just down from Santa Rosa.....across the street from Woodstocks Pizza. I could find that place with my eyes closed.

Anyone ever been to Pete's in San Ramon? Awesome and so many differnt kinds a beer. Awesome place.

I live only 30 minutes outside of Chico, which is where Sierra Nevada is brewed. I love that place. The celebration ale is out now....mmmmmmm.......festive. You can never go wrong with Sierra Nevada.

lucky. sierra nevada brews some excellent beers. the celebration ale is my #1 choice so far in the seasonals category. i like hops, and sierra nevada never dissapoints in the hop department, but they also balance it well.

emo236 11-01-2005 10:15 AM

ihave a friend who goes to CSU Chico....he says the sierra nevada is cheaper than any other beer there...true?

91zxtt 11-03-2005 08:38 PM

Pretty damn close....only the really crappy beers are less expensive (Natural, Lucky, etc.). It's less expensive then most of the mainstream domestics (Bud, Coors, Miller).
