Clean Title in hand
Disclaimer: I am not the owner; I am just helping post and sell this listing for my cousin as I have been in the auto industry for 20+ years. All information was given to me. I have seen the car in person. He is older and he took the photos with his phone (in link below). We are both available to talk to.
Selling a 1979 Datsun 280ZX, White, 5-spd manual.
He is the second owner, having purchased it in 1983 from the original owner.
Mileage: 142,905 original miles as of 12/14/24 (put maybe 400 miles on it in the last year just to keep it running)
Ownership History: Only two owners, title in hand. Service manual in car. Bought from a friend in 1983 and had around 80k miles on it already. So about 60k miles put on since. Unfortunately, he only has a few receipts as a few years ago most of them were tossed as the car was not meant to be a “concourse” level car for him.
Storage: The car has been stored indoors most of its life but has been outside a bit.
Modifications: Mostly stock with the only modifications being a head unit and exhaust replacement. The car was also painted white in the early ‘90s.
Exterior & Interior:
Paint: Car was originally cherry red (as you can see in the engine bay). Painted White in the early ‘90s.
Seats: The seats are in excellent condition.
Dashboard & Steering Wheel: the dash does have a small crack that was never fixed but other than that the rest of the dash and steering wheel are in excellent condition.
Door Cards: in great condition.
Interior: In the rear cargo spot the auto body shop messed up the driver side cover/plastic type covering but can be repaired easily. Also hatch cover piece (under hatch window, is marked up due to age). Finally rear driver side window piece (leather/plastic type covering) is pulling away a little but can be fixed easily.
Spare Tire & Repair Kit: Both are in pristine condition, never used.
AC & Heat: Both systems were functioning flawlessly.
Rust & Wear:
Rust: None that is known
Center Console: There’s a minor crack on one side.
Dings & Dents: Nothing really on the car minus a few places that may need touch up paint on front bumper.
Tires: have less than 400 miles on them

Hagerty has the insured price per their estimated value at 15k.
Honest Ratings:
o Exterior and paint: 9+ - just needs some touch ups
o Interior: 6 - but no rips in seats, just the one corner in the back is damaged/needs glue
o Stock wheels: 8 - no dents, etc
o Racing wheels: 9 - great shape with the spacers needed to put them on the car correctly
o Engine mechanically: 8 - all parts that needed replacement were replaced (see the info/receipts in photos)
o Transmission/clutch: 8 - just older but works well
Why he is Selling?
The car was not meant to be a “concourse” level car while he owned it. He just wanted his Z to look good and to run well. It is a 45-year-old car. Looks good and runs well, so it is a good time to let it go. He has had many offers over the years but wants it to go to a good home for a fair price.
