Water Comin in at Rear

Mine is a 96TT. I have noticed this a few times: after some rain or after washing the car, when I lift up the trunk, water comes gushing either by the rear driver's side trunk strut opening or the harness opening at the top of the trunk glass (driver's side). In any case, it all gets dumped on the driver's side speaker housing. It's bad enough that the speaker needs to be replaced. At first I though it was coming through the rear wiper stem seal (it was open on one side). I fixed that but it's still coming. It could be coming through the spoiler but I thought they were glued to the trunk. I have a FSM so I should be able to fix that. What to watch out for? Also, since speker is ruined, something else could be ruined. Any suggestions on what to check? Thanks.

I'd be keen to find out what your problem is too as I have the same issue but on my passenger side (your driver side)

I'll keep you posted. I need to look at the FSM again - I think it's coming through where the spoiler interfaces the trunk lid.

I believe I may have found out where it was coming in through. I took out the rear plastic finish on the driver's side and did all I could to have water come through the spoiler and wiper interfaces - couldn't do it, no water would come through. As I was frustratingly closing the thing back I noticed a loose nut sucked up onto the rear wiper motor (the base is magnetic). The one is from the rear 3rd brake lamp. I screwed it in and only time will tell if I have this resolved.
