Turbo NA 300ZX

Where can i find a turbo kit for a 90-96 non-turbo 300ZX? Even better, where could i find an aftermarket twin turbo setup for a non turbo Z?

Who else is sick to death of this damned topic?!?!?!?!??! Ok, go to night7racing.com, and E-Mail my boy over there, he will get you the Fairlady front clip for 2800. That includes the ECU/M(engine control unit/module) VG30DETT (300zx Twin Turbo) engine, Transmission, and wiring. Go here to see what is involved in this project: NA to TT if this doesnt change your mind about the project, then good luck to you. There are no turbo kits for the VG30DE engine for a reason... Ask any Mazda fan(me for example), "would you turbo charge a NA 13B engine?", its the same thing, the 13B TT engine is built stronger than the NA engine, so the rotors, the rotor housings, eccentric shaft, oil pump, fuel pump, injectors... everything will be changed. It's the same thing with this project, its not like you just BOLT an exhaust manifold, turbo, and some piping on. It isnt built to handle such forced induction... Get back to us on what you decide, Peace.

theres plenty of cars whose engines were never intended to be turbo charged. civics, preludes, accords, escorts, focus just to mention a few, but people do turbo charge them nonetheless. is there really no turbo made for this car. my escort zx2 isnt meant for turbocharging, but they make a turbo kit for it.

The N/A Z has 222hp at the flywheel. To accomplish this, it's compression is bumped way up to about 10:1. The turbo's compression is about 8.5:1. The lower compression is more turbo friendly. Less chance for unwanted detonation, the harmful kind anyway. The block and other internals on the N/A weren't meant to see the abuse of turbocharging. That's why most ppl just swap out the engine, ecu, etc., etc.

Look here for more general info on the Z.

Exactly Rizz. The reason civics can be turbocharged is because of their very lower compression ratio. Lets take an ECR-33 GTS-25T (RB25DET) Skyline for example, it has a compression ratio of 9.0:1, this is not a low compression ratio, but it isnt a high one either, but that engine is designed to handle the forced induction. The VG30DE engine is not designed for that.

OFF TOPIC: Hey Rizz, my new 1991 300zx came today! . Its red, 5 speed, vg30de, nice Advan rims, cross drilled rotors, and all it needs is a valve job (guides are off). Just thought I would let you know. peace
