too much back pressure?
too much back pressure?
I'm burning a little oil (smoking) so I pulled my exhaust to see if I could tell which side or if I have turbo problems and now I'm not seeing or smelling any evidence. Could I have too much back pressure? I had exhaust put on the car, it has after market down pipes, 2 1/2" test pipes into a 2 1/2" wye, pretty much 2 1/2" out.
No, you do not have too much back pressure.
While a larger exhaust will make the most power on a turbocharged car, the exhaust would have to be TINY (smaller than stock) to be so restrictive that you have "too much" back pressure.
What color was the smoke? And when was it smoking?

Well with open downpipes, you wouldn't see it or smell it nearly as easily because it disperses underneath the car... the reason you see it with an exhaust on is because you're able to see it as it's dispersing behind the car.
Your turbos are wearing out.
