Timing and ECU questions

This may be a stupid question, but when my crankshaft pulley is at 0 degrees, the dimples and notches of my cam gears should be lined up with the dots on the plate behind them, correct? My Z is a whole tooth clockwise from those dots when the crankshaft pulley is at 0.

Also, when I looked up the numbers from my ECU it came up as a turbo 300ZX auto trans ECU. Mine is a standard transmission. When you are checking codes on your ECU, does the screw spin a few times around before it stops? Mine seems to keep spinning and never stops. I've been looking at ECU's and I found a few for a turbo standard trans in the $200-$250 range. Does anyone recommend I get a new one because my screw spins around endlessly and it's for an auto trans? Does it even matter that it's for an auto trans?

Does the ECU spit out the codes if you turn the screw according to proper procedure?

If I try to turn the screw, it seems to spin around endlessly in each direction and the LED never flashes or does anything besides stay solid

That part was well understood, but are you following the right steps in turning it?
