I want to upgade my 91 bose sound system, but im not ness. looking for bose. but some thing that souns good tho. Im told i need adaptor brackets because the bose enclosure is custom and nothing else will fit it. where can i find those brackets besides the expensive dealer? Or is there another way that i can go about doing this? Please help..i need muisic. heh! Thankx!

 

not full true...w/ a dremel you can make bigger speakers fit...i have 6.5's all around....if you change the speakers, you will need to upgrade everything, plus get new wiring....bose is not compatible with anything else...if you upgrade ONLY your head unit - and need an adaptor...your amps will end up dieing.....gotta upgrade everything...

sorry i must sound like an idiot? I have already upgraded the headunit and removed all of the amps. Im just runnin on the head and the speakers. But how did u get yours to fit? Whats a Dremel?

 

a dremel is a tool that kinda sands down things in a way..you can adjust the size of something with the bit..they are cheap...buy one at home depot..or take a look at one, and you will see what i mean...otherwise, courtesyparts.com sells custom speaker brackets at their site..check it out

Dr Z, Its great to see that somebody finally agrees with me. You can fit 6.5 speakers with a little patience. You also can use the factory speaker wiring if you don't want to run new wires.

 

I got a car audio shop to fabricate new speaker enclosures, i think it sounds better than the sanding approach, but it costs more. they did it for 30 a peice. it sounds awesome.
