If it is your rear main seal it will be an expensive fix, relatively speaking. The Transmission has to be dropped in order to get to the rear main seal, so considering a mechanic will charge anywhere from 125-175 dollars just to take your transmission down....well, you do the math from there. If it is the rear main seal my advice is to reaplace the clutch and slave cylinder while he has it down, if its anywhere near time for a new one. Also have them reaplave any other seals or fittings while its down. These are little pain in the *** things that you would want to take care of in one swipe. Ohh ya, and if you have a TT and the transmission is down its a great time to take off and gut those pre-cats without the risk of getting the ceramic dust in the turbines.
