Removing a shift ****

yo i tried removing the shift **** on my zx and it wont come off.. I tried unscrewing it but it wouldn't come off...am i doing it right or is there another way of removing it. Also my shifter is kinda lose..anyone know how i can tighten it?

You need to change the bushings in the shifter. This is what is causing your play.
