Then your charger isn't working or you have corroded battery terminals. But the bottom line is that your car is not getting the voltage it needs for the starter to kick in. The clicking is a tell-tale symptom. Trust us, there is nothing else it can be other than the battery or its connections.

Then try some of the other suggestions. Voltage doesn't mean **** when you need a couple hundred amps to start a car. There is also a huge section for this sort of thing in the FSM as well.

It's true hoov is right, I've had plenty of batteries read out to 12v+ and had no cranking amps. Get a new battery, or try switching batts between cars and see if it starts, sometimes jumping it is not enough...

Since you were underneath the car ****ing with the exhaust system, check the starter's connection. Since the positive wire from the battery leads directly to it, and you were playing around near it, it's possible that you bumped it loose (or that, if it was corroded, you broke some of the connection, etc). Hell, it could be shorting against your exhaust, even. (Even if you left the cats on while you installed the cat-back, there was undeniably some motion in the exhaust system near the starter.)

Same Exact ISsue Wont turn over

IM having the exact Same Issue with my 90 300Zx Na. Everytime i attempt to start it on some days it will just click and shut down. Once the click happens I Wiggle the NEgative battery Terminal and the Dash lights back up and everything. Just bought brand Battery and Terminals and it happened again.

To add to that. The Wiring on the Z32 is extremly Annoying! Everytime to move the Negattive Ground to get the Dash to light back up and attempt to turn over. I have to move the Ground away from the ENgine cause one day i was under the 300 and told my buddy to start it and I seen Sparks by the Firewall kinda.
