On some cars, cheap parts will work out fine - I've seen it happen. But the 300ZX is such a complicated machine that allows for such a small margin of error that any cheap materials will effect reliability and performance.

And if you think you're in a pinch, it snowed today and the headgasket on my winter 4x4 blew last night.

Nah... that's panzy ****...

http://www.break.com/index/drunk-red...is-suzuki.html

Actually, I was just driving on the highway. I suspect it had been leaking for a while (she'd burn coolant on startup), but I expected it to last until spring whence I could turbocharger her at the same time. Oh well. Water pump in November. Coolant hose burst, fuel system problems, and tire blowout in December. Headgasket the other night puts the value of the Geo in the red, so it's time to cut her loose. Not a single problem over 3 years worth mentioning, and so many significant (and surprisingly expensive) things in 3 months...

haha, the suzuki jump, a classic, i regualr break soo, thats not news for me

but yeah, thats some bogus **** sounds like its time for a new ride. what kinda 4X4 was it though? cause if its an american crap car then thats why it blew a HG lol. but also they use pushrods as you so sincerly hate, and i do myself, but they are sooo easy to replace the HG on. so might be worth it then and just selling it.

I posted that video not just because it's a 4x4, but because it is almost exactly my car (a couple years older). Mine's the same color, ragtop, but originally badged as a Geo instead of a Suzuki. Mine's a 95, the one in the video is 89-94 (you can tell by the non-removable side windows... 95's side windows were removable).

But the Tracker's isn't a pushrod engine... it's single-overhead cam (16V nonetheless... more valves per cylinder than the newest Mustangs!). I'm still not fixing it though.

exhaust gasket if its blown will make a ticing sound....and once you rev it up it appears to go away cause it flows through the easiest path of resistance and it it way hard to go through a little blown exhaust gasket with all the flow pushing down the pipe.

actually.... the 03-05 or w/e SVT mustang cobra had a DOHC motor. ford..... an american car company in general actually, did something right. crazy right?

and ahhhhhh. i see. yeah i knew the suzuki/geo was and OHC inline turd car. lol. guess it constitutes the ownership of a Z32 with what you have done to it.

sooooo.... want 2 s30's for you TTZ??? lol. ones got a fresh paint job, ive overhauld the rear subframe so far all poly bushings and low mileage parts painted and undercoated, front will be overhauled this weekend, motor runs perfect, have exhaust just need a header lol, a 2 inch drop with much higher spring rate and KYB struts to go in this weekend as well, oh yeah and it just got out of paint. AND my 260Z turbo? lol. together they might almost be worth more than your Z32. i just miss the Z32 so much.

once i do sell both these cars im recruiting you to help me find a TTZ for myself. not like, you need to do anything, just you seem to have found your Z's for both great prices so you must know how to search for them.....

wait. you couldnt break traction with the Z ????? i think you got some problems there buddy. i could light my Z's tire up with out a hint of hesitation when my Z was running good, this was in the summer with 255 tires on the rear and potenza SO-3's. and you couldnt in the snow????? my car would break traction at teh top of first when it was cold out. lol

when i said i still couldn't, that's pretty much because i'm too much of a *****. i know the car isn't doing too terribly well right now, so i take it easy. i was "almost" poping the clutch at about 3500 today. and it is a N/A

still, i'm a ***** with my cars. i just can't brign myself to pop the clutch that hard. i can't afford to change it any time soon. but for reference, to see how bad my car is doing, what do you have to do with a N/A to spin? dump the clutch at about 4K?

if you have to dump the clutch at 4k to spin in a NA z32, there is a problem. i can chirp 2nd pretty good in mine, and i have VERY grippy tires.

hmmm... more work to do. new heads, injectors, spark plugs, tested coil packs, timing belt, everything else, and it's still not right. i dunno. for right now i guess it gets me where i need to go and it's not burning any oil or anything. usually a code 55 too.

someday... it does have plenty of power in the high end, but it's got a low end hesitation (however you spell it) a lot of the time, so that's why the power is weak off the line and every time i let the clutch out aggressively. i'm trouble shooting that now. i'm thinking TPS. it idles high too so i'm hoping that both symptoms are from the same problem.

so now that this forum has turned into a loose discussion, would anyone like to tell me how to put a picture in my signature? or if there are directions for it somewhere on here already?

Host the pic to a site like photodump.org, go to your user control panel and edit signature, then take the URL of the pic and put [ i m g ] before it and [ / i m g ] after (remove spaces between characters).
