Re: Motor Help
Yep, save another 6mos or so and buy a TT. The swap is a long and expensive process. It will end up costing you a lot more than it would to just buy a TT. As I've said before, and I'll say it again...Don't spend ALL your money on the car. With these cars you need to have at least 1k in the bank to work on em if they break down. You don't want to max yourself out financially just to have the car break down and never get enough money to fix it. Good luck buying though, and don't hesitate to go for the NA, NAs put up great numbers on the track.

Re: Motor Help
Try going to twinturbo.net they have great info about the pros and cons of do a tt swap or conversion.. At the moment my n/a is out of commisson and needs a engine... I'm planning on doing a tt swap in my garage to save on labor and install pricing at a shop. this whole process still will not be cheap. A remanufacture engine runs 3,100 to 3,400 with a core exchange. Plus you still need intercooler, pipping, ecu, a/c condenser, radiator, and other misc stuff.. 5k for the whole process unless you can find someone with front clip who is willing to sell for less. In your case it might be better to buy a tt. my situation is different. =)

Re: Motor Help
3500 for motor, trans and ecu. For that amount it has high milage, and/or you have to buy the turbos for it, which is going to be at least another 3 grand. For all you guys talking about the engine swap...have you looked under the hood...if you even want to attempt it yourself you better have an *** load of patience and the right tools. Also looking under the hood...you know how much it would be in labor to get it installed.
One really good piece of advice when looking at stuff for cars in general, and this car inparticular. If it seems too good to be true...then it probably is. Thats just the way it goes. Stay within your budgets, and have fun with what you can. You don't have to go ***** to the wall stage XV to have a good time with these cars.
