Interior Heating

Newbie here. Hi everyone. I don't want to mooch info here and disappear. I want to be active. I read a lot on these sites since my Z and I are only 8 months together. It's a 1990 N/A. I've had some things done that are simple like a short shifter, ACT Clutch, HKS Exhaust system and well, tint! lol

I hate sounding like a newbie. I'm a member of this site as well as twinturbo.net. Is it just us folks in the midwest that need interior heat in their car? I've searched so many threads.

Here's the scenario: basically no matter what I set the temparature to I'm getting cold air. Almost feels like A/C air. I had the computer replaced (interior; driver side left floor area) by Ultimate Z here in Illinois. I had floor heat but the top vents still blew cold air. I was told they would have to remove the entire dash, it'll be about 600 for labor and that maybe the doors are stuck?!
Anyways, I was wondering if maybe it's electrical or something? Can anyone recommend anything? Even though spring is supposedly here, it's still cold at 7am.
Would really appreciate any and all help!

Thanks!
Loki (trying to stay warm)

welcome to zdriver. have a little patience, morning is not the highest traffic time for this site. it sounds like a blend door problem. changing the ecu would have no effect on the climate control system.

First, I had to stop laughing at your avatar! lol In your quick opinion do you think that the entire dash does need to come off and should it cost 600 bucks?!

probably to the dash thing. no to the 600 bucks, at least i would not pay that much. i suggest downloading an FSM and checking it out yourself, it has the procedure for running the self diagnostic on the climate control. you can get it at carfiche.com. oh, and do you have the manual or the automatic climate control?

I have the auto climate control. Also, I don't have any type of computer or CONSULT to check things. Is that what I need as well? I know that guy at Ulitmate Z has this thing he always plugs into my car.

no need for consult. the auto climate control has a built in self diagnosis feature.

I'm allowed to be goofy sometimes. It's part of the newbie factor. lol

I looked but nothing was there for the 90. I wish I knew more about the Z's before I got this. I knew I wanted want, turbo or NA. Just didn't know the 1990 was the "bad" year. (sigh)

Hush, Hush, I thought I heard them calling my name

Well I found out that I just need to have the dash removed. Thanks Riz for the link. I actually had checked it out already but it didn't give me the answer(s) I needed.
I did have the air regulator replaced though. So he's quiet as a mouse! I love it. I have an HKS exhuast system on it and will change the stock air intake soon. I love sleeper cars.
