Injector Removal

How many hours is this? Shop wants to remove turbos, is that required? I got one bad injector and it's quickly turning into a 700 plus job. Thanks.

Find a different shop or do it yourself. Seriously, look at the engine of your car and see where the turbo's are in relation to the injectors.

Just an FYI if one injector is bad chances are there are another 2 going out.

Just for ***** and giggles, whats the name/location of this shop so I can tell people to avoid it in the future?

And the first time you will pull the plenum (to replace the injectors) will probably take you about 4 hours if you have tools and can fallow some instruction.

book time at a shop for this is 5 hours, so figure $60 an hour, plus $30 for the plenum gasket, plus another $20 in hoses, plus $90 for the injector and $10 for the oring kit and assume nothing breaks or comes apart when you pull it. This is not the car to own unless you can do it yourself or have lots of money to put it in a shop.

They're just a local shop, they didn't think they could get to the bolts without removing the turbo's to get the plenum off. I thought it was an easier job so I was only going to replace the bad injector, but I'll probably just replace all of them while it's apart. Thanks for the help. I'll be taking it somewhere else too, they're just going to put it back together.

Thats an even bigger WTF, did these guys even look at the car before claiming that?

Yeah, they started taking it apart but I called in the middle of it because I found a cheaper injector than their 170.00 one. He got mad because I complained about that and I told him to cancel his order and use mine. Again, that was for ONE injector. Also, I didn't realize it was this big of a job. I thought you could get to each injector individually, so I thought it was like a 2 hour job. But after watching some vids and looking at the manual it's going to be a LITTLE more than that. I just need to know if the turbos have to be pulled because if that's true I may as well replace those too. But they've probably never had a 300ZX in there, but still ... I'm wondering if they know where all the bolts are to remove. Are there any bolts that low that go to the upper plenum? The turbos sit below that so I wouldn't have thought they'd be in the way.

There are no bolts that low, the closest ones are the EGR tube bolts but they on the bottom next to the sides.

TBH once you delete the TB coolant lines the plenum is pretty easy to pull.

He said something about a screw on the side that he couldn't reach. I'm thinking about just taking it to Nissan. I don't know if I want to do it myself. I've watched a couple vids but it might be more than I'm capable of. Everything is so packed in there. I haven't found a vid on the turbo model for this yet. Not sure if there's a big difference, probably more stuff to unhook, inlets and sensors.

Look at twinturbo.net tech section. It honestly is pretty easy and there really isn't much to do.
