I want to build my NA z32 motor

Hello zDriver.com,

So here's a little story. Lol.
I'm a new owner of a 1990 Z32 GS NA.
I took it out for a drive one day driving like I stole it
I absolutely fell in love with it. Lol.
The thing is that now I want more powah.
I looked into possibly supercharging my NA motor but it didn'tlook too good.
Everywhere I searched, the same results came up saying that it would possibly and more likely end up with a blown motor.
I don't want that.
A thought came to mind.
Maybe try to build the NA's internals, going all motor and no turbo.
I'd like some pointers on what internal parts to upgrade on my VG30DE.
What brands, parts, etc.
I'm some what new to the car scene but I really want my Z32 to be a "beast".
I know 220hp is nowhere to being "beast",
but I'm willing to put the effort and getting up in #'s.
(Yes, its stick shift)

Lastly, would you recommend me putting in the time, effort and money into
the naturally asperated NA engine as I've thought of doing? How much power increase would I see with the given upgrades?
Please keep the rude comments away.
I love this car, please help me out.

Thank you.

Welcome to ZDriver!

Check out your free factory service manual, parts fiche, etc., at XenonZ32.com Reference

I'm not a Z32 guy but the thinking here would be similar to working up a Z31NA into turbo territory. You don't report your mileage - but the easiest route was (is) to get hold of a complete Z32 turbo motor in good shape (or rebuilt) and swap it in all at once. That way at least you are beginning with all the parts you need. Otherwise, piecemeal hookups get expensive when you have to get custom parts made because you can't find them anywhere.

The one-power-feature-at-a-time approach with your Z32NA takes a lot of motor smarts, the kind I didn't have with my Z31. If you have them, go for it.

The other quicker route is to locate a whole Z32 turbo model you want to own, sell your NA to buy it - and bring that back to 100% if it's not there already.

Otherwise, the Z32 guys here should have more experience than me with what you are looking to do to your new Z32 at this point. And be sure to check the archives here. They go way back on just about every topic that interests you. Good luck!

Welcome again!

zxguy1986 , thanks for the great welcoming.
Thee car just hit 200k miles.
I bought this from an elderly man and had a bunch of
maintenance paper work for the car. He was the only
owner since the car was first sold to him in 1991.
The motor runs and sounds strong.
It also passed smog check with flying colors.
Body/frame is straight, no rust under or anywhere in the vehicle.
I checked for that before purchase.

Now, for the full VG30DETT swap, it sounds doable to me.
Im looking to experiment with what I have and make the best of
while keeping it NA I did check out the forums, this is a great
community, lot's of great info. Please keep any more info/suggestions
comming along.

Thanks.
