I have to wonder.....how much compression can you possibly build when turning the engine manually? If your not strong enough to turn the car over manually without the plugs in it, then you need to get a gym memebership.

I agree that it's likely a severely bent valve. I would also be willing to bet that the piston is f*cked.

91ZXTT: How exactly would having the plugs removed make it easier to turn it over manually? You really shouldn't rotate the cams separate for the crank. It could cause the valves to hit the pistons; which is bad. If the engine is binding up when you turn it over manually, then there are some major problems.

in defense here, taking plugs out makes it easier to turn. that has been well explained. i wasn't ceat enouph when i said turn the cams. i meant see if one is locked up or much stiffer then the others. you can turn them a bit, and if you are being gentle it really wouldn't hurt much to tap a poston.

This is the first time I've ever seen someone needing to remove the plugs to turn it over manually; which is why I suggested a gym membership. How big is the ratchet you're using? Maybe you need to use a larger ratchet.

You still shouldn't turn the cams separately....you need to do a compression test. Since you have your plugs out, then you're already part way there.

Since it was more difficult to turn over manually with the plugs in only tells you that you have some compression and it doesn't tell you how many chambers have adequate compression; which is why you need to do a compression check.

lol, at 140psi + in a piston even though it does leak some, it can make it tough to turn over. i can do it yes, but it makes the world easier to take them out. plus some people get scared when the motor gets tough to turn over and think they will break crap.

You need to pull the head(s) off the motor... it will be hard to find out what side is bad... Maybe time for a new motor???

A few bent valves usually doesn't necessitate a new motor.

$600 is kinda steep for a valve job.

the only experience you would have with the motor when having it rebuilt is bolting it back up to the trans..

Wow....just wow. You should be ashamed about your spelling and grammar. That's astounding. I hope your mechancial skills far surpass your English skills, but then again that wouldn't be saying much.

If that's what you really feel, then you should've just said ,"I'm ok with having people think that I'm retarded....because I am retarded.". That would've worked just the same and you wouldn't have offended anyone.

posts that are full of grammatical errors are terribly difficult and annoying to read. this is a forum, not a text message. proper sentence structure will go a long way. of course, if your attitude remains as it was in the quoted post, i can make it so there is no chance of the problem repeating. i am sure snw can attest to that.
