gasoline smell

whenever i drive on a cold morning, i get a strong whiff of gasoline every now and again as i drive. it doesnt go away, until i get to school, which is about 4 miles or 15 minutes.
one of these days my gf and i are probably gonna die from inhaling that smell if i dont get that fixed.
anyways, any comments?

You should not smell gasoline ever for any reason. If you do, you have a fuel leak and that means fire hazard. You need to go looking for fuel leaks.

FPR vs. fuel dampener

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a quick question. I'm getting a strong fuel smell from under my hood, and I've narrowed it down to the the little brass-colored arm thingy thats sort of tucked into the intake plenum on the upper right hand side. Is that the fuel pressure regulator, or the fuel dampener? After ooking at pictures of the FPR and FD, I'm a lil unsure.

b- thee cars have a tendency to develop fuel leaks when it gets cold. You do want to find them as ssoon as possible because it is a fire danger. Remove the plastic cover on top of the plenum. Follow the path of your fuel line from the fuel filter over the engine and tighten all hose clamps along the way. As your doing this, look for any areas that look wet. If you find any, focus your search there. May not be a bad idea to replace the fuel lines. It's easy and inexpensive. You can pick up fuel hose from any autoparts store.
