Exhaust and Cat question for 94 vert NA

Hi all - question regarding my newest project car in the stable. I've got a 94 NA Vert with 120K miles on it - it's in really good shape and is going to be a "weekender". I'm not looking into making this a super NA or anything - just something to drop the top and go for a weekend drive when the "honeydo" list is done. I currently have a couple other project cars (big rock crawling jeep, lexus sc300 5sp) so it's hard to spend tons of money on one specific vehicle.

My question regarding exhaust: I have a trade to use at a local exhaust shop and I can get anything in the shop installed for free. He has flowmaster products and I was wondering if anyone has any input on the 70 series Flowmaster and putting them on a Z? I have the 50 series on my jeep and it sounds great under throttle (inline 6 4.0 High output)- I figure the 70 would work better since there are two and I don't want to be drowned out. I know it's not a typical Z high performance exhaust -but as I said with 3 project vehicles ...(+ a vintage Vespa scooter being overhauled and a 1946 WWII military trailer, 5 month old daughter, big house with lots of projects, etc, etc ) free doesn't hurt! I also wanted input regarding removing the cats in this process or if it would remove too much restriction and have an adverse effect on the throttle response? The cats are in bad shape (rattling) and what he has in the shop are all intended for light passenger cars - no performance.

Any input is appreciated!!!

Matt

You won't be able to pass emissions, if you have no problems with that you will lose some torque on the engine but will gain some HP, as for noise I have no idea what it will sound like.

flowmasters are pretty loud
eliminating cats will make it very loud

Thanks b300z - I guess I don't mind it loud as long as it's out the back AND it's a gutteral sound. Low end - not fart can.

The SC300 is really bone right now - it's my daily "practical" car. Silver, 5spd, 6 cyl. Really hard to find the 5spds that's for sure. It'll get exhaust, 350Z track wheels and some lowering springs - but that'll happen closer to winter as the funds are going to the summer car right now.
