Pull out the factory intake box, cut the bottom off of it to expose the bottom of both filters and reinstall. Doesn't cost anything and will work fine until you start pushing a decent amount of power to the wheels.

What do you mean look nice? the MAF and filter/s are covered by the nose panel, you aren't going to see it unless you poke your head into the air box.

You do realize that you already have a cold air intake, right? The definition of a cold air intake is an intake filter arrangement that sits outside of the engine bay (which is hot). Thus, since the factory air box is outside the engine bay, it's already a cold air intake.

Get a JWT POP Charger and you're done. (JWT POP Charger rather than any other product because it's been proven to outperform the competition by 5-8rwhp across the board.)

As for dual pop, do you have a TT or NA? (In the future, provide more info from the start.) There are gains on a TT, but to make it work, you need a second MAS, a SELIN translator, and an upgraded ECU... without all of those components, it won't work. On an NA, it's completely overkill.

i dont know about that cold air intake i had one on my car i felt that it was sucking water in ever time i drove through a puddle or in the rain i would leave the factor in and buy K&N factor fit filters.

Sucking in water? Were you driving in a lake? Or did you remove the factory splash shield? (Which isn't supposed to be removed...)

And what evidence do you have that you were sucking in water?

If it's and N/A I wouldn't bother modding it, I would spend my money on doing maintenance and upkeep and just drive it and enjoy it.

With the splash shield installed, you'd never suck in water unless you submerged the intake. And if you're submerging it, you should NOT be driving the vehicle in those conditions. Get an SUV or pickup truck for that weather... the 300ZX is a sports car, meant to be driven in nice weather.

Think logically. If the splash shield is installed properly (see pic), the water would have to go in the air dam and then UP and FORWARD to get to the intake. Even if water accumulates in the air dam, it would leak out the front opening (not to mention the sides and back) LONG before the level ever reached the intake.

outlined in red is the spash shield

Again, the only way your intake would suck in anything more than a mist would be if you submerged the front end... and if that's the case, that's not a problem with the intake, that's a problem between the seat and the steering wheel.

This is my old car...

... it had a JWT POP Charger installed at the time of this picture. Can you see it? NO. Because it's nowhere near low enough to reach even the lower opening of the air dam. It actually sits right about between the fog lights. To submerge that intake, you'd have to be a moron. Sorry. Properly installed cone filters do not have issues with sucking in water... that's all there is to it.

... that would be your problem. Splash shields exist for a reason... they shield your intake from splashes. Get one. Problem solved.

P.S. If you experience stalling at speed, it's because without a splash shield, the air going past the MAS is turbulent. The splash shield also helps ensure that the filter properly draws in air smoothly.
