It's called a venturi and it comes with your JWT POP charger.

What's that? Your intake isn't a JWT POP charger? Then you should get rid of it and get a JWT POP charger - the proven best intake on the market.

And if I find out you got a cone filter from Pep Boys ir AutoZone or wherever, I will steal your car because it deserves better.

P.S. It's not a conversion you're doing. Can't convert to what something already is (an atheist can't convert to atheism... he's already an atheist.)

By definition, the 300ZX Z32 has a cold air intake from the factory. All you're doing is swapping in a less restrictive filter arrangement.

ok ya im learning but i dont want to keep oiling the filter i want a non oiled filter and its the mass air flow adapter that i need but i dont want the plastic one cause i hear it crackes after all the heat i might have to make my own or cut the holes out on the metal one i found at advanced auto. And can i just replace the tubing with new piping? will that help it in any way?

What the PO did to my sisters TT was cut the 4 bolt flange off the MAF and just get a 3 inch cone filter to stick on the end. What you choose for a filter is up to you, I used a paper filter from some tractor.

One is for a filter with a 3" hole and the other is 4".

:::sigh:::

The MAF adapter is part of the JWT venturi.

Have fun replacing filters, rather than cleaning them. And oh yeah, have fun underperforming. JWT consistently does 5-8rwhp more than its closest competitor on an otherwise stock TT (as demonstrated by Specialty Z on multiple cars).

I know I've got the Z1 version but he mentioned not wanting a plastic adapter and the ones I linked to are the kind that usually come in plastic. Plus he has an NA like me so he will be underperforming no matter what filter he installs.

lilmike the adapter below is the style Zlover is referring to.

I'd rather spend $7 twice a year and have my airfilter actually filter the air, then have some crappy oiled gauze filter that couldn't even filter my coffee.

Don't get me wrong, I love the JWT pop charger, but I am not a fan of gaining power by sacrificing air filtration.

If you get the intake from Z1 then you don't need any other adapters. If you look at the pics the large aluminum piece is the venturi Zlover was talking about. It bolts directly to the MAF.

If you get one of the Ebay adapters from the earlier post then you can use any cone style filter with either a 3 or 4" opening depending on which adapter you get.

The venturi style from either Z1 or JWT will flow better than the ebay adapters.

Hoov I have always found that the oiled gauze filters did a great job. Dirty on the outside and nice and clean on the inside. I have a small K&N on the air compressor in the shop and it is always filthy on the outside from the grinding dust and welding fumes but clean inside. I even greased a section of the intake tract inside to see if anything significant was getting through the filter. The grease was always clean.

It's the complete opposite over here, I have always seen a small layer of dust on the inside of the intake hoses when running a gauze filter, regardless of how well it was oiled. The thing with your compressor is that it's not creating a large amount of vacuum and that the filter most likely isn't way down towards the ground and constantly getting pelted with dirt and road debri. It might be because I live in desert, but there is a reason that prerunners, sandrails, race cars...etc down here don't run a gauze filter.

hoov, on a car not being driven in the desert (and one that has a properly installed splash shield to block most debris), a gauze filter does a fine job. With city driving, I've never found any dirt inside my intake system, and every time I've cleaned the filter it's been clear that it did its job.

I would buy either the kit from Z1 or the JWT version. Your choice. Either will do the job.
