Alright zdrivers I just picked up my car had timing belt done, what a difference IN performance, huge improvement in power, i was talking to the mechanic Eric from pons and I asked him if I could take the catalytic converter out, he said that i could and wouldn't have a problem because I have a 1990 and that year the oxygen sensors were not connected to the cats! So now I'm taking them out for sure, just need some feed back from the experts on this forum if this sounds right? How much up would I gain? And would it sound much louder? Thanks for the feedback.

If you are lucky your cat is flanged on both ends, then all will need is a "test pipe" of the same dimensions as your cat. You might need to have a local muffler shop set you up that way. Then if you need to do emissions you can swap the cat back in.

No emissions test here in Miami Florida so no worries there, so off with that dead weight and welcome the flo. I was looking up some test pipes bought it seems like some regular exhaust tubing will do? I want it to have a nice grount but not too loud, I'm wondering how it would sound?Originally Posted by PredatorZ

after i passed smog which involved adding another main cat in line and losing the h pipe, i had the guy cut out the sections with the cats, and put straight pipe on all the wayto the muffler, i was expecting it to be significantly louder, but it is maybe 10 percent louder at idle, i don't think i gained any power, even though the flow rate is greater now, the cats aren't there to heat up the exhaust, harder to push through cold air, it never even gets warm, but it still pulls hard, and when you gas it hard sounds pretty good
