93 z n/a. Sometimes, normally with the cold weather. Ill start up the car, the idle will dro down ot like 0 and the car will stall out. Then ill try to start it and it wont start up, I was told that its flooded. But I have to wait like a day, or two for the car to start back up again. Nissan loked at it, and they said that there is no fuel leak or anything of that sort. Why would the car flood, or stall out? Im assuming its a fuel issue, could it just be frozing lnes, or maybe a clogged fuel filter, or something like that?
Faulty fuel injectors sounds like. Some of them might be stuck in the wide open position. That'll probably be why it's flooding.
But if the car starts then the rpm's just drop to nothing and the car dies, it doesn't sound like it's getting too much fuel. That's usually a symptom of not enough fuel. If there's no leak, that doesn't necessarily mean that there's no shortage of fuel. I'd check the filter, pressure regulator and fuel dampner. Might just be that one of those needs to be replaced.

If it was the injectors, could it be a problem becuase of the weather? I got the car in like November, but didnt have any problems untill it started to get really cold out and what not. Is there anything in the manual to check out the dampner, or the regulator?

Few questons for you Rizzmeister. Tried to start it up today amost did it, for some reason the gas takes a good two days ot clar out of the cylinders. It almost started up thou. I cant really do the diag right now, Me and my gf got in an accident last weekend and I only have the use of one arm right now, so im roughing it, I cant even drive my Z at the moment. I have tried to start it a few times in the past few days, im gonna let it sit for like a week since i cantdrive it right now anyways. My questions are.

Im gonna change them anyway when I heal.
Is there a seizeing possibility at all with the constant flooding, or trying to start??

same thing happen on second Z i owned.... it would flood the sparkplugs all the time, so i replaced the sparkplugs, so it would start up a few times, then i sold it to some dude... he couldn't start it after a week. i think he took it to a few shops but i dunno what ever happen to it. mine started flooding after i wrecked it a bit. so i fixed what i could and sold it. but keep us updated, bc i never figured it out
Seizing shouldn't be a worry. As long as your car still has oil in it, I wouldn't worry about that.

Someone suggested to me a leaking fuel solenoid might be to blame as well. I say just check stuff.

It was never in a wreck. Carfax is clean, which means something, for the most part at least. I think im just gonna have it towed down to a Local Foreign Specialist shop in town. There was originally NGK's in the car, I switched out to Bosch Platinums which I think someone posted as being bad plugs for the car. I guessing the car should start up over the weekend, im going to let it sit untill the weekend then see where I am, change out the plugs, and try to get to Nissan for a diag, they owe me a free one so i might as well take advantage of it. Ill keep you all posted.
Tok me a while with one arm, but I got the plugs out. They look like they are really worn, the tip of the white center point is black, and the threads are orange/brown. No oil smell though. Im gonna try to take some pictures so you can tell m what you think. But the plugs are only 3 months old at the least.
Has your check engine light come on? One of the codes that the ECU can pick up is a leaking injector. That code came up for me a couple weeks ago, but I haven't had a problem with flooding. I just roled over 150,000 miles yesterday. It may be time to upgrade the injectors for me. I've replaced 1 in 5 years/80,000 miles.
No light came on, and thanks for pointing that out. I let them dry out over night, put the plugs back in and it started up fine, I let it run for a while and nothing happened.
Im going to change the plugs back to the NGK's or the NISSAN plugs as recommended by a site that I found.
When my friend got his Eclipse GST we had switched hte NGK's to the Bosch Platinums, same that are in my car. I talked to him the other day about my plugs and **** becuase hes a mechanic, and he reminded me about all the problems he had with his car when we put these in, he switched back to the NGK's and his car ran fine.
The Z was fine untll I switched them, so ill switch bakc and see hat happens. Thank for all the input.

As posted in the Spark Plugs thread. Could the bosch be a reason why the car keeps flooding. The engine light doesnt come one like said, so it isnt a leaky injector unless for some reason its not registering. I ordered Nissan Plusgs. No one in the area had the NGK's, NO ONE!!. Same price basically, like 77 for the ngk's, 84 for the nissan, and I figured the Nissan plugs are hte ones that are made for the car so that would probably be my best bet. Maybe this will help my problem. Ill keep you all posted.
I've had Bosch Platinums in mine for 5 years without a problem. Because of the spark plug thread, I am switching to NGK's as soon as I get around to it. Not to pour salt on the wound, but courtesyparts.com sells the plugs for less than what you paid. Just an FYI for future reference. Never buy anything from the dealer. You can always find it for less somewhere else. I think Rizz is onto something with the fuel dampener/regulator or solenoid.
I did actually wind up getting them from courtesey nissan, it was like 66 after shipping. I put them in, car started up beautifully, the idled smoothed out, the plug seemed like it fit better, and there was also beter suction with the coil pack. Today was the first time I drove "The Box Mobile" in three weeks, and it felt good. The car is running great now.
Im going to check the fuel stuff out this weekend. The parts art that expensive, so if its a problem replacement should be no problem. Is there a code for the damper and regulator if i was to do a diag?
