BOV's
BOV's
From what I've seen and read, the HKS SSQV BOV's seem to be the best available for everyday driving, but I may be wrong. Boost-solutions is selling the kit for $780 shipped. It includes 4 hardpipes and 2 SSQV BOV's. Does this seem like a good deal to you guys? Go to www.boost-solutions.com and check it out.
Just letting you know JUST INCASE you didn't know that there's something even better than BOV out there for our Z's. They're called recirculation valves and they recirculate excess boost. The best part about them, for you, they came with your car. They are stock on the Zs and are much more effecient than BOV. but maybe you want the sound. That deal is a good deal considering how much BOV's are. usually around 600$ for a pair of HKS's.
Cool!!! Ok, it appears that BOV's are a waste of $ for everyday street use. I always thougt the psshh sound was lame anyway. By growing up in California, I learned to associate that sound with rice racers. If the Z comes with recirculation valves, then why are people concerned with compressure surge? Is it a myth in the Z? Are we supposed to upgrade our recirc valves?
No need to upgrade them. It's my understanding that bov's aren't really necessary until you reach a certain hp level.
People are concerned about compression surge for the same reason that they worry about everything else that concerns sports cars, they don't wanna lose hp. Plain and simple. People always wanna squeeze the most outta their cars and maximize performance. Can you blame them?
That's what being a car nut is all about, right? Of course it is!!!

So what you're saying is that unless we've got huge horsepower (I'm guessing 600+), we should save the $ that we would've spent on BOV's and buy something that will actually give us more horsepower. With BOV's, for several hundred dollars, all we get is a sneeze under the hood. That's works for me. I think I'll keep my $. Thanks
That's exactly correct. And it's not that people are concerned about compression surge, but because they're concerned with the bling bling factor. They want to be noticed at the track, at shows, etc. It's definitely a smart move to save your $. Hardpipes would be nice though. I'm glad we could save you $.
