Widebody almost out of paint. Soon....muahahaha

Went by the paint shop to check on the progess of the last leg of my widebody project. Soon it will be done. Geez this metal work took forever. Anyways, here are some images for you to scan through.
It will look even better when it's in my garage. :)
Yeah...she's coming along. Took a while at paint but I can't complain since I got a lot of the metal work and detail work for free.
NICE touch..... not over done. When doing this, are you forming out the existing sheet metal? Or, are you cutting out the fenders and then adding metal?
That 3rd pic in the first post made me laugh. It made me think of a tv commercial here in Socal from a phone company. It shows a guy hauling azz on a snowmobile and jumping the bank on a road. He gets some major air.

Going with the new BMW red. Aztec was a little dull. My paint guy offered to change the color at no additional charge just cause he really wanted it to stand out. It's no suprise why I love these paint guys, aye?
On the metal work, actually we never cut any of the existing metal. We originally had a thought of plasma cutting out stock fenders and tig'n them up to the rear. Then I thought about plasma cutting out the rears and then bending them to desirable size. After we figured the size we were going for we opted to build a custom metal clamp that would fit in the inner rear ender. Then we used a huge chassis machine and pulled the fender out equally on both side while heating the metal. Any minor imperfection were fixed with lead work....yeah...old school lead work.... and eventually we shaped them. From my knowledge it was the first time someone attempted to do it the way we did so that took up a lot of the major time. After everything...we have a stock like look with stock like strength on the metal. I love it.
Yeah, It's definetly a lost art at the very least. I am really happy with their work. They took a little longer than I had hoped for but still made up for it with excellent bodywork and attention to detail.
I would rather not mention it, but it's a hook up that's for sure. So that's why I haven't really made it an issue with time since I am saving a butt load of cash. Awesome!
