Where did you learn it all?
How did you all get your automotive training? Schools? Clubs? Manuals? Relatives?
Stories would be highly appreciated! Thanks, W |
I got mine from working on old cars
from a 69 Chevelle to a 92 Escort with a VW thrown in |
Hands on and being too poor to afford a mechanic really help. I have a lot of family and we've all primarily driven Nissan as far back as I can remember. Everything else I generally learned through reading. These forums are a really great resource to draw from. Anything and everything you want to know about, or if something happens to you/car it probably happened to someone else already. Having a pretty good memory helps too.

WOW!!! I love 69 Chevelles. Lucky bastard! I learned from going to the scrap yard, buying engines, and tearing them apart. I tore apart a 13B(RX-7) VE30DE(Old Maxima) VQ30DE(95-99 Max), anything I could get my hands on, I bought and worked on. But I also took classes at the local community college, and learned a SHIT LOAD!!! If you havent seen some of my other post, My buddy and I have basically built a FULL carbon fiber 95 GS-X with a 4G63T (EVO III), with 450 bhp (brake horse power, or at wheels), and it only weighs 2000 pounds!!!! It was great, I learned beadblasting, trans. building, how to put cars on frame racks, how to restore a rolled car, all in ONE summer, and it costed me NOTHING. And I am only 17! haha. well let me know how it goes man. peace

Thanks for the stories guys, keep them coming!
I for one will be working through the automotive certification offered through the community college in preparation for my new Z32 when on my next birthday. W |
Hey Rizzspeed, how do you do that little picture thing there???? You and your Z im guessing. Thanks man. peace
|
That was a big ol PITA!! Just open up paint on your comp, insert pick and right click select stretch/skew, resize (over and over again) until you end up with a pic with dimensions of 80x80 or less. It's easiest if you save after every try. Have fun.
P.S. yep me and my Z. The only lady I can count on :D |
I got my schooling from my dad, he was like McGiver and could biuld a car from duct tape and some sticks. Everytime there was something to do on a car i would be right next to him.

My first car was an '87 Supra Turbo, 5spd, black... she was a beauty. I had no idea what I was driving, none the less what boost was. Either way, the water pump, turbo, 1-2 synchro and differential all went. Let's just say between that and then trading her in to get my '92 Z... I learned a lot. Hands on experience followed up with a service manual, parts microfiche, and lots of time in the summer = learning about your car 24/7. :D
