As the title says, does anyone know the exact part number and what it attaches too? When i bought my Z the trunk didnt pop up even though i threw in new struts.

... you do know it's not supposed to open on its own, right? It's a hatch, not a trunk...

I.E. There are no springs, and the struts only serve to hold the hatch open (when you manually open it).

I understand that but i had a supra that had a hatch and it would at least pop up a little so you can lift it the rest of the way. Right now i lift on the actuator and nothing, one person has to hold the actuator and another needs to lift the hatch. It doesnt pop out of the latch at all.

You need to adjust the latch so there is more tension. Because effectively right now you are opening it and it is shutting itself. Remove the center panel in the hatch are, the one with the two big plastic hand screws. Then there are a 2 or 3 screws you need to loosen then lower the hatch mechanism a little and retighten.
