check out ebay, theres a manual tranny for $600.00 i really dont think you could spend more than $600.00 in adding the clutch pedal and buying the clutch pump and the oil lines, gather a couple of friends and do it your self,im sure you have a friend that knows some thing about working on cars, also theres a auto tt tranny for $300,and something, but is tt and you have a n/a idont know if itll fit a n/a but theres some really cool guys in theses forums that could spread the knowlege on this issue, later

unfortunately the auto trannies are known to not hold up well. If you're up to a project, than a manual tranny swapp would be good. The n/a and tt trannies are exactly the same internally. You might have a small problem with the starter hookup if you use a tt tranny on an n/a vehicle. The tt and n/a flywheels are different so that's where the problem lays. If you do change over to a tt manual tranny, you'll probably also have to swap out the flywheel while your at it. Also you might wanna make sure that you get the starter to begin with, with the tt tranny.
If that's not feasible, you'll have to spend some time and probably more cash trying to locate an auto tranny to swap in. Try www.z1motorsports.com , give them a call. They have an extensive Z parts yard. I'm pretty sure that they'll have an auto tranny for sale. You might have to send them your bad one in exchange though. I think it'll be worth it to you though.

Rizz, I like the new sig. Also, consider clutch replacments. Yes, auto's tend to go out, but clutches need to be replaced every once in a while as well and that can be costly too. If you get it done, it'll usually be around 500$, DIY and it'll be about 200-300$. But since you have an NA, you won't need clutches all that much and you could easily stick with OEM clutches even after you modify. But, to answer your question, think about what you want. Do you love ALL Z's or is there something that attaches you to your Z? Would you be able to buy another Z after selling this one or would you have to settle for a civic? It all comes down to how much you love your car and love Z's and how much you're willing to sacrifice for it.
I think that depending on the clutch quality and how you drive, a clutch could last you a very, very long time.
Example:
When I first got my car I raced it, clutch drops at 6K rpm, drove like a maniac. Within 8 months of owning it, clutch went out. Totally gone. When replacing it, the remnants of the clutch greeted me as a fine black dust cloud.
I replaced with a cheap $100 Luke clutch from carquest. That was in '99. I've driven like a normal, sane person since. Clutch is still good to this day. I don't dump it, I don't get aggresive with it, and most of all I don't race.

rizz u were talking about getting a different starter for a tt tranny... i just looked at the box and the ppl at the dealership ordered me a starter for a tt, and i have an n/a, i put it in today and works like a charm
Ppl that I've talked to that have done na to tt swaps have noted that the bell housing from the tt tranny and the na tranny are different. The flywheel is different between them as well. Because of that, I was told that the starters were different to accomodate the differences. Apparently, I was misinformed. Thanks.
I heard the temps in VA were cold but in NH, it has been very cold. Minus 10 today, with wind chill to minus 40.
I have no heat in my garage and just finished re-installing the tranny Wed night. BBRRRRR..it was plus 1 degree. I only lasted 1 hour before I quit for the night.
Hey Rizz....how old are you getting to be ? Should we stock up on the Geritol for X-mas gifts to you for next year ??
I heard sale prices may be coming along for canes or walkers...

Yes........it is cold. I put the car up for storage in October and I targeted May 1 to drive it out. Going right thru it and mechanically restoring as much as possible, before I move on to the interior.
1 under shirt, 2 pairs of long johns, 2 sweat shirts and sweat pants, ski hat, etc.......it still is cold !!!! I feel like the tin man in Wizard of Oz....Can't move !

well i dont even know how to change a tranny how much should i pay for one? and how much would it cost to put in? what do you guys think about aamco? overpriced? i just want to drive it already!!!
DO NOT GO TO AAMCO!!!!! last winter i took my car to get the clutch changed since i couldn't do it myself due to the harsh cold and i had to get the clutch changed 4 times, and then they f#$ked up my shifter, so the thing was going up and down and they said it it was like that whhen i brought it in....i was so pisseed it took them a f@#king month to change the freaking clutch. finaly i got a tow truck went overthere and took my Z...they were saying all the s*it how they put in 2 slaves and one master cilinder, and they changed 4 clutches bc my tranny was all f@#ked up. i just took my car and told them to **** themselves, and then i went to the court bc i refused to pay and i won, so they had to pay for a new clutch... so me being such a nice guy i took it to the most expensive place i could find...which was the dealership. i had a Z specialist check out my tranny and he said it was perfect, so thats why i won the case. but f#@k them. so i don't suggest you don't take it there...thats just my opinion
thanx man... i wasn't gonna have them make a fool out of me... i mean they would tell me they will call me with the updates, and they never have, and then they wanted to charge me $1,500 for the friggin clutch...i started laughing when they told me...it took a lot of arguing until i wrote a complaint and went to the court....they must feel stupid when they took me to the court to get their money and i ended up with a free clutch
i drive a z not a civic biatch...my momma didn't raise no fool

On both counts.
I've been taken to court before. Only walked in with my summons in my hand, other ppl walked in with a folder full of pictures, witness statements and police reports about the accident. I won.
Funny stuff.
So what did you decide?
slvrttzx, what did you decide to do? It seems that everyone chimed in and then went off in a different direction.
So what else is new?
But ultimately, what happened? Did you repair/replace the tranny? Did you sell the car? Hit the lottery and said the hell with all those fools on ZDriver? Update, update, update!
