whats up everyone

nice to share info with all you people about the perfect car(300zxtt)i just bought a 1993 twin turbo of ebay is a 1993 and bought it for 4,100 wow what a rip off, dont you guys think? this is my second z32,i had one back in p.r. 1990tt since then i fell in love with this car,but had to sell it when moved to florida.it stood in the family i sold it to my wifes uncle,so everytime a go down there i drive it,it been 5 years and still pulls strong, but getting back to the 1993 i bought, the car is in a out of words condition outside and specially inside, like new,the car has alot of miliage because the secnd owner(the guy i bought it of) drove it for 3 years everyday 130 miles round trip to work, the car is in stock cond.never been modified and still run super strong, but the hicas light turns on sometimes not everytime,is it better to eliminate this or no?there is a little whistling sound coming from the engine also comes off and on,im thinking that it needs a timing belt not sure but what do you guys think it could be.i live in florida and dont know were to find a zx specialist, regards to everyone,o one more thing how do i add a L in my users name.mailman not maiman

As far as the HICAS goes, it depends on whether you want to eliminate it or not. Most ppl do it for autocrossing reasons (handling). If the light keeps coming on, check for the fluid level. As far as the whistling noise sounds like a vacuum hose might be loose and is sucking in outside air causing your whistling noise. Look into it. You could try www.300zxclub.com or www.twinturbo.net for someone in your area to help you with your car. good luck

wow, thanks for replying,i thought i was not going to get a answer,i would check the fluid for the hicas problem.but about the noise coming from the engine ive had a few friends come over and check it out ,they said that the noise is coming from the engine, but like i said it comes on and off,one of them said that it probably need a timing belt ,hopefully i hope that would fix the problem, dude but tha car pulls very hard althou its never been modified or raced,i got it for 4,100 1993tt,i relly dont mind trowing in a few bucks in the engine, even if i have to spend 3,000 to rebuild the engine it would still be cheap for me knowing that they are selling for more than 15,000 on ebay,i would most likely take it to universal nissan auto dealer down here in florida, ive been told there is a z specialist that works in the dealer, plus im sure they would give me warranty, would you know how much the charge for hooking the car to a computer for a diagnostic?thanks again rizzspeed.

Most diagnostics run at least 100 dollars. I've got good news for you though. You can save your money. Those diagnostic machines are only for 95+ vehicles with the newer OBDII ECU's. You can run the ECU diagnostic yourself. If you can count to ten, then your qualified! Just follow these instructions at this website.

I just had an idea. Is the engine noise your experiencing belt whine? It's like really high pitched, right? It comes and goes and is most prevalent during warm up, right? Am I close? If so, I have the remedy for you then. Read this thread.

If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong and you'll just have to deal with my imperfection.

If you can afford to get a lighter flywheel, go ahead. You won't regret it. If you can also spring for a one piece lighter driveshaft, that would be beneficial as well. Less rotating mass is a good thing, better acceleration and so on.

Here's Courtesy's parts page for timing belts and related parts. I recommend the tensioner pulley. You should change that even if the one you got looks good. It'll go out eventually. That page will also give you a good idea on other stuff you might wanna get while you're getting that belt changed.

Thanks, not necessarily homework, but I've had to change the timing belt in my car already. So I already have a rough idea of what to look for and what is more or less required.

Did you change the timing belt yourself, or did you have someone do it. IF you did it your self how hard was it. I did 2 in the 80's z's. And it wasnt THAT hard.

Unfortunately, I didn't do that one myself. At the time I had too much going on with work, family, and other stuff. I had a buddy do the work for me. I had several things wrong with the car at once so I had a bunch of stuff done.
Well, the engine in the Z32 is a bit different from the older Z's. From what I've seen, it's not that difficult. The hardest part will be finding the room to work in. Look at the site I provided above. That'll provide you with the necessary parts, or replacement of worn out parts.
I'll provide some step by step instructions. Removal and installation of the belt.
I'm gonna go post ***** on this one, since its a mult-pic thing.
Hope this helps someone out.

Feel free to copy and enlarge. Especially if you want to be able to read the instructions. LOL
That's all from a Nissan repair manual so it should be thorough and complete. Supposedly anyway. LOL Enjoy
