Turbo Fix

Hi I have a 1990 300zx Twin Turbo, but the turbos are going out and its burning oil out the exhaust. I have some hand me down turbos from another 1990 300zx from a friend it has minimal shaft play he says but i just want to know how much is to much and if its even worth putting them in? And how much it would be to get that shaft play fixed and what would i have to go through for that?

thank you for any help or suggestions you give me

The only proper way to fix a bad turbo is with a brand new CHRA, and you're looking at a little over $400 for the CHRA.

If there is any shaft play at all, I'd say the turbo isn't all that far from going bad.

depends what you consider minimal, side to side play is a lot worse than in out.
On any car where its a quicky to switch out a turbo, sure go for it.
On a z its a engine pull to do the turbo's, thing long and hard about how long you plan to keep the car before you go sticking 2nds in

have them rebuilt or buy new ones

and yes, think about how sure you are about the 2nd turbos because you will have to pull the VG to change them.
