It's been almost 2 years since I last visited the forum (or any forum for that). I hope everyone is doing well. My Z is running well. I recently installed a Pioneer DMH-W4600NEX (2-DIN unit) to keep up with technology. Works fine but I have 2 Questions:
Question #1: The problem I have is that when the unit comes on, the antenna also comes on - I really don't like that look. My previous stereo would activate the antenna only when using the radio function. Is there a way to limit antenna activation only to radio, for this unit?
Question #2: If Question #1 is not readily doable, I am willing to replace the OEM antenna with a stubby unit. The one I got from CZP makes installation too simplistic for me:
TO INSTALL:
1) Simply remove the exterior mounting nut and pull the factory power antenna mast out of the power unit.
2) Install our conversion sleeve in its place.
3) Install the exterior mounting nut. 4) Thread our 6 3/4" antenna into our conversion sleeve.
Can someone who has done this please decipher a bit more? A toothed cable is attached to the antenna. So when pulled out does the cable just come off its spool with the antenna?
I also don't see any exterior mounting nuts on my 96 Z32.
