Removing Dust shield
Removing Dust shield
Is it true that removing the dust shield keeps the brakes dramatically cooler. I was told this weekend that under the same conditions the same car's rotors were 200degrees cooler (I'm sure thats what he told me) after driving the same track for the same amount of time.
Has anyone done this and is there really any effect that could be negative from removing the dust shield behind the rotor?

if your on stock wheels put the correct wheels on the correct side. Not many people know this, but if you look at Z32 wheels, the air ducts are going a certain direction to pull more air onto the z32 brakes, look closely, you can tell. This will yield lower temps by .02 probably haha , and thats my .02.
And i wouldn't go to a track on stock Z brakes unless your running some SUPER high boiling point brake fluid. (been there done that got the T-shirt, coming into turn 3, push brake pedal to the floor with almost no resistance, don't slow down any, very scary) Even still, i wouldn't run it very much.
